During the event, the three most outstanding projects were awarded, including the initiative "Standardization of Identity Validation in Digital Products," presented by our experts.
The significance of the project presented by members of Baufest's Business Design team lies in the growing popularity of "proof of life" (liveness detection) checks across various programs and applications. This process involves three distinct steps: detecting a real person, authentication, and validation. Many people with sensory, motor, or cognitive disabilities face obstacles during biometric verification. These difficulties vary: the inability to wink, not knowing what a "sad face" implies, the requirement to perform movements that may be difficult or impossible for some, or the need to remove essential assistive items like hearing aids or glasses. All of these represent barriers to access, and the Baufest team set out to create a more user-friendly authentication approach for this population segment.
The overall goal of the Hackathon was to identify, support, and strengthen projects that leverage disruptive technology to build accessible environments, thereby contributing to the full exercise of rights for people with disabilities.
With this objective in mind, the Baufest team proposed:
- Offering diverse authentication solutions tailored to the needs of different user profiles.
- Providing real-time guidance throughout the process.
- Giving upfront information on each step so users can operate with independence and freedom.
- Utilizing Machine Learning combined with audio cues to help users complete tasks.
