The objective of this initiative is to provide organizational insights that enable companies to take concrete actions toward cultivating an innovative culture.

In this context, Baufest played a crucial role in developing the index and driving its implementation in Argentina, taking as a foundation a model developed by MIT researchers in the paper titled "How Innovative Is Your Company’s Culture?"

The ICI measures the maturity level of an organization's Innovation Culture, assessing both its strengths and areas for improvement. Furthermore, it delivers actionable insights to help guide initiatives that build and sustain an innovative mindset.

“The challenge companies face is the mindset shift required to innovate, which contrasts with the traditional operational excellence mindset. This involves developing new capabilities and behaviors that nurture curiosity, flexibility, collaboration, and customer commitment,” noted Adrián Lasso, Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer (CINO) at Baufest. “As an organization operating within a fast-growing industry defined by constant change, innovation plays a fundamental role in our culture. It allows us to explore new paths and translate those learnings to our clients, helping them achieve a sustainable competitive advantage over time,” he added.

The Innovation Culture Index yields two key metrics: Global ICI and Perceived ICI. The Global ICI is calculated from the averages of 54 evaluated factors—combining rational and emotional indicators—based on survey responses. Meanwhile, the Perceived ICI reflects the average response from participants regarding the statement: "Overall, I consider our company to be an innovative organization."

“The real key to innovation lies in involving the customer throughout the entire process—identifying and addressing their business needs while helping them capture market opportunities. For us, this is an evolutionary, incremental approach that aims to continuously improve how things are done. That is precisely why we decided to drive this initiative,” concluded Lasso.
